Emphasis will be given to news about events and opportunities for collaboration between Canadians and Latin Americans.

News

  • The government of Canada supports eight projects led by Canadian Universities in developing countries
Canadian universities will be helping developing countries such as Mali, Madagascar, Tanzania, Bangladesh, China, Bolivia and Mozambique. The Government of Canada's support to these projects will contribute to eradicate poverty and global diseases by increasing the ability of the people of these countries to manage their natural resources, their livestock, their businesses and their institutions.

  • University Partnerships in Cooperation and Development
Since its launch in 1994, the UPCD program has funded more than 100 projects up to 1 million Canadian dollars throughout the developing world in an array of disciplines including education, natural sciences and the humanities. Projects funded through the UPCD program respond to Canada's Official Development priorities, the Canadian International Development Agency's (CIDA) poverty-reduction mandate, as well as the development priorities of developing countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Eastern Europe where CIDA's projects take place. These projects typically include a range of activities, including: curriculum development, strengthening academic departments and training and further education for professors, among others. Grants are awarded to two post-secondary institutions, one in the North and one in the South.
